Company History
NTI is becoming a leading systems integrator in a
rapidly emerging technology area in the federal marketplace:
wireless computing systems and wireless communications
networks. Through NTI's early commitment to wireless
technologies, the company has developed expert wireless
network capability in network design, engineering,
applications development, and integration. In 1995,
NTI was the first systems integrator in the federal
marketplace to integrate Lotus cc:Mail wireless into
an existing cc:Mail corporate Wide Area Network, for
Concept Automation, Inc./BTG, a federal prime contractor.
In this wireless network setting, NTI integrated wireless
modems, working with notebook computers and hand-held
devices (PDAs), sending e-mail and file attachments
over a packet-data radio network, connecting to a
corporate WAN of over 200 users.
NTI is a key strategic partner with Bell South Information
Systems Data Network (previously known as RAM), in
developing a variety of wireless mobile computing
solutions for the federal government customer. These
solutions range from off the shelf wireless
e-mail/messaging solutions for the mobile PC, Mac,
and hand-held computer user to complete gateway integrated
systems. NTI is delivering custom designed Client/Server
software applications for these integrated wireless
communications solutions for federal computer users.
In September of 1997, NTI won a competitive U.S.
Health and Human Services contract for a ground-breaking
telemedicine system for Indian Health Service in South
Dakota. This $500,000 pilot project provided for high
performance, computer-based, tele-radiology systems
to be designed, integrated, and installed in remote
Indian Health Services hospitals and linked through
a private ISDN network connection.
In April of 1998, NTI was awarded a prime contract
to implement distance learning classrooms for the
Army Distance Learning Project. This contract worth
up to $5 million, provides for design and integration
of multi-media, state of the art classrooms for Army
training, throughout the United States. This includes
computer based training, video teleconferencing, high
speed data networking, all tied together in a Wide
Area Network, manageable from multiple sites.
